Who is Damien Hirst?

According to one article, Damien Hirst is a metaphor of the economical crisis but seriously – who is he?
Wikipedia calls him “the most prominent member of the group known as the Young British Artist, entrepreneur and art collector”. With the help of his erstwhile patron,Charles Saatchi, his work The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, a 14-foot tiger shark immersed in formaldehyde in a vitrine was sold for $12 million(!) which made him the richest artist alive.
Death is a central theme in Hirst’s works. He became famous mostly for a series of artworks in which dead animals are preserved in formaldehyde.
I won’t discuss here his genius or luck, I’ ll just say that he is an absolute “must known” for all the chicks who interested in the art and etc.
